Today: Day 10, A Fizzing Face

23 Aug

Day 9! Organising my wardrobe was definitely tougher than I thought it would.

TIP: Do your washing first.

Half of my stuff was in the wash basket/washing machine so that stuff wasn’t taken into consideration at all when i was chucking stuff away.

The hardest thing for me, was SOCKS. I love my socks… so reducing it down to 14 (Excluding work out ones) was really tough, anything with a hole in was thrown, anything that i hardly wore was thrown, then it was my patterned ones and my nice ones… it was tough!

Back to the stuff that was washing/drying, I’m just going through it pile by pile. Checking my list of numbers and how many I have in my drawers. Then being brutally honest, Even if i like wearing it, If i have to place my hands over holes then it has to go 😦

I did however discover that I need another pair of jeans.. mine are soon to die!

Now Day 10 I found a face mask idea… two simple ingredients: Water and Baking Soda.

Two ingredients that I actually had! So I went for it…

It was pretty sore at first, but that’s because i didn’t wait for it to stop fizzing… So the chemical reaction continued on my face.

I’ve just come back from washing it off and I think it worked… My face feels smoother for sure! I’ve just slapped some moisturiser on as well, so it should be model like by the morning… hehe!

This pin a day board is coming along nicely. Full of random stuff! But hopefully by the end of it it should be 45 pins of random stuff I’ve tried.

Today: Days 6, 7 and 8

21 Aug

My nails went perrrfeeeccctttlllyyyy!

I’m very happy with them

my_nails

I had a pretty quiet day on my day 6 of pinning, I picked a gardening one, which was more a reminder to me to go and water my pot with my tomatinos in!

toma

There are flowers on them already, I’m so chuffed I’ve managed to keep them alive!

Day 7 for me was getting on with my quilt. I’ve pinned so much under my ‘home-maker’ board about it, and I have all the stuff, I just had to get on with it!

quilt

I picked two of my fabric colours, and cut out some 4″ x 4″ squares… But man they are small… I’m going to have to rethink how big they will be. I may move to 8″x8″ squares… But im not scared of my cutter any more.

I think I need to use my scissors more though….

Day 8!

This day was a mental relaxation day. I was highly strung with Anxiety so I had to try some breathing exercises at my desk.

panic

It helps immensely actually, I recommend trying it!

Day 9!
declutter my wardrobe/closet/clothes….

wardrobe

This is severely needed. And I nee dto be brutal…

I’ll write tomorrow how this one goes. It’s gona be tough. But If I can at least make a start, I’ll be well on my way!!

I’ve also made a list of everything I *need*…. as this diagram can go around in a circle!

It’s been a tough few days for me. This is actually a really good challenge of doing a pin a day… I just need to try and keep up with telling everyone!!

Today: Day 3, Mental Care

15 Aug

I’m stark raving bonkers.

Yep.

SO yesterday I did the body bum work out thing… it hurt and burned a bit! Felt pretty good though. I’m definitely taking those squats and lunges and adding it into a warm up routine!

Today, the hubby and I have been out for lunch with the family, so my day has been taken up socialising in the sunshine and eating lovely food with sweet company. Which means I don’t have much time to ‘do’ anything else.

Obviously I’m sat on my sofa playing some games and talking with friends and watching Saturday night television!! But I wanted to add a pin today that I could still do.

I’ve decided that today should be about mental wellbeing… Nothing drastic like Yoga in 16 awkward positions whilst breathing through your nose and humming, but something simple to get me away from it all!

So here it is:

keepcalm

Simple.

I’m going to go make a cup of tea now.

I have a book about the perils of running a friend lent me that I really haven’t finished yet that I should really aim to. So tonight I’m going to make a dent in it.

10:30 pm will be my ‘up to bed’ time. I’ve got to make sure I step away, get into my PJs and put some chill music on and read for a bit. Even just one chapter! God I miss reading…

I know It’s silly to say, but I won’t read books that are in the middle of a film or TV series. It’s like I’ve got to stick to one medium?

I’m still reading Lord of the Rings… THAT’S a hard book to get through, very detailed and good, but its very hard to get into properly.

In fact… here’s a list of books:

  • Lord of the Rings – reading, hard to finish
  • Body Book – Cameron Diaz autobiography. Easy reading, could finish in an afternoon
  • The Hunger Games (Trilogy) – Need to wait for the films to finish, then I will be all over these!
  • Sense and Sensibility – TRYING to read this, but the style is strange for me!
  • Pride and Prejudice – Can’t wait to start on this!
  • Little House (all the stories!) – I have to read these again.
  • Anne of Green Gables – same here, I have to read them again, to take the full story in as I just cant remember it properly
  • A Year of Losing the Dating Game – someone from school has written a book… I feel I should read it as it does sound hilarious!

Anyway… One day when I have a nice big bay window that I can sit in with the tv on and lots of pillows, I can read. Or in my big big garden.. A girl can dream?

Today: A Pin a Day

13 Aug

O dear lord

So I have been neglecting this because reently I have become a little (alot) embaressed at any progress I made.

My Q2 Goal was to run a sub 35min 5km.

I smashed it :p Yeah I got a 33:33 at Buckingham Parkrun. It was Glorious!

Then we had waffles.

Im almost at the end of my Q3 goal, though, technically i guess i have until the end of September? Anyway, lose 10lbs.

It’s hard.

I’m trying to find one thing to focus on to improve, and I am really REALLY struggling.

So, I need a new plan for the remaining 6.5 weeks:

  1. I know I have a half marathon to run on September 27th, which is right at the end, so I can incorporate any training for that into this new plan.
  2.  I run my long runs on Sundays, my short runs on Tuesdays, and any ‘technical’ runs (sprints/tempo/hills) on Thursday. So my week kinda goes Tu – 2-3 miles, Th-         4-6 miles, Sun 6 +
  3. (At least I am now at a point where I’m not scared to just hop out and run 6 miles!)
  4. I love Pinterest. Far too much

So my new plan:

6.5 weeks = 6.5*7 = 45.5 days, So for ease, I’ll say 45 days.

I’ll pick 45 pins and i have to do one a day. It can be a workout, or some crafty thing, or weird breathing exercises… basically it has to be an activity.

Today, I’m running 4-6 miles (depending on how hard it is raining), then i have to do something… hmmmm

I’m searching across the ‘Everything’ Category:Everything

I guess I could do a beauty thing or a house cleaning thing?

Ah! Found a simple one, It’s a list of 10 things (last one is pray… i’ve cut it off as that’s not me)

atmosphereSo i could do this!

  • I would declutter the kitchen.
  • Put Music from my phone on
  • Light a scented candle (I still have one I think!)
  • Skip the brownies and make a milkshake
  • I have a beautiful Bouquette of flowers to arrange and find a place for
  • The Hubby’s gonna get a big grin from me!
  • I’ll be motivating myself by running… nothing is more encouraging than: “I’m running home now…”
  • Hugs are a rule whenever someone comes in the house. Snuggling and holding tight!
  • Ahhh Games… That will be played! And the Great Brittish Bakeoff from yesterday. Shouldn’t take more than an hour?
  • I’d shower after this and the run so i can play games and watch TV with a job done.

So that’s my idea. A pin a day and a blog a day… 45 days.

I best set the Commit reminder on my phone to pick a pin to do.

I’ve set a new board up: A Pin a Day, come follow if you like!

Till tomorrow!!

Today: The Star Chart

7 Jul

That’s right. I went to WH Smiths and I went mad with some stationary.

An A3 pad of paper, felt tip pens, and star stickers resulted in the BEST star chart I think I have ever participated in. That is even better that the one which allowed me to have sweets at school.

New manageable motivation

I was told by a friend that I shouldn’t have as many goals at once. I can understand that, but I’m incredibly impatient and by having this star chart it means I can still have rewards, no matter how many times I manage to reach my 10 stars for each goal.

I still have to complete all goals 10 times to earn the elusive curry, but I will be one star closer after posting this blog post!

I managed to buy a couple of DVD‘s from HMV the other day, 10 minute workout ones, for pilates and hip hop. Which are the first 2 goals on there, every time I complete one of the 10 min work outs I get a star!

Saving 500 calories a day is the next one, that’s to keep up my diet encouragement. I’ve written the shopping list for next week so I can plan my dinners out a bit better, lots of veg and salad on the cards! as well as spaghetti bolognaise (home made) and some more fajitas.

Blogging covers the next 2 goals, one for my personal blog here, one for my Physics blog. Which is going to be a Physics applied blog for F1. Exciting!

Running is the next one. For every 10 mins I complete RUNNING, none of this interval walking stuff, I get a star. This will be the goal that holds me back from the curry for the longest, but it means I can actually track my progress more!

The final one is for every 200 sit ups I complete with my frame sit up machine thing. gotta have a toned tum!

I’m feeling more motivated now, I’ve put things in perspective, and I have to make sure I make some time for me. Not the house, not Charlie but me.

Really this means that I get to have more cuddles when I want.

I’m sure you’ll be hearing updates from me soon!

Today: It’s the End of the Weekend :(

22 Aug

This weekend was one of those where i just had to get the little things done.

Unlike previous weekends where i have just got up at about half 10 and done everything by 2, I spent the entirity of Saturday playing games. That is until it got to half past 4 ( i woke up at 11 see,) where i decided it would be a brilliant idea to tidy and hoover my room. Now i normally do this every couple of months – The BIG tidy, you know, the one that involves moving furniture and the like – But yesterday i just had the urge (i blame the kick i was drinking).
WELL. 15 spiders, 3 hours, 4 cups of tea, 3 civilisations destroyed (playing Civ 4 at the time), 4 pairs of shoes thrown out and 2 bin bags of rubbish and my room looks tidier 🙂

Then generic make-up on, posh dress and shoes, and i performed to my mirror for several more hours before crashing out to sleep!

Sunday-TODAY. Woke up at 11:57, still morning i guess… Finished my Sims 3 stuff and was upset that it didn’t work 😦 new driver updates and a system restore later and the injuries my laptop had suffered became apparent. The graphics card is officially dead, it can’t cope with anything more graphic than BBC IPlayer and even that is a bit jittery 😦 so to sulk i had lots of chocolate and watched the BTCC final race on ITV4.

Pretty good i muat say! First BTCC race i have every watched and i found it exciting, compelling and highly competetive!! i think i’ll be watching it again! As long as it doesn’t clash with the F1 🙂

Less than a week to go till Spa!!!! Christian Horner has been giving his usual “This could be our weakest track” speech whilst giving that little grin he gives whilst being interviewed! I’m sure that RBR will be doing great at Spa, and he’ll be twitching his foot just to show us!

Closer to the time i think i’ll post my pre-race blog up too. The one i put on the RBR community site, just to get it out there!

On the subject of F1, if you’re a fan at all, check WTF1 out. it’s the lighter side to the drama of F1!

Monday tomorrow, i hope it goes by quickly!
